PASADENA, Cal. – “Shameless” is the latest TV series to know its endgame.

Showtime announced today that the series (shown here) will be back this summer for an 11th and final season.

That follows another Showtime series ending its run. On Feb. 9, “Homeland” starts its eighth and last season with a characteristically tough hour: Carrie (Claire Danes), back from imprisonment and torture, is plunged into a new mission, amid doubts about her memories and sanity.

That show ends its run on April 28 … the same night that a once-dead show returns to life.

“Penny Dreadful” ended in 2016, with nasty things in old England. Now, however, it’s returning.

“It’s not Victorian, it’s not Gothic, it’s bright and sunny,” producer John Logan told the Television Critics Association.

At least its look – all California sunshine – is bright. Beneath that is the dark story of plowing a freeway through a Latino neighborhood.

Included is a vengeful spirit, summoned by Maria, a desperate matriarch. “Being Mexican, I’ve heard a lot of stories about the supernatural,” said Adriana Barraza, who plays Maria.

Showtime also announced:

– Jim Carrey’s “Kidding” will return Feb. 9, alongside “Homeland,” with “Black Monday” returning on March 15.

– “Billions” will be back May 3, adding Julianna Margulies.

– Other mini-series and series will include “Your Honor,” with Bryan Cranston … “Ripley,” with Andrew Scott … “Rust,” with Jeff Daniels … and “Halo,” based on the videogame.

– And one series will have to wait. “The Good Lord Bird” needs extra time, said Gary Levine, the network co-president. Ethan Hawke is writing and producing; he also stars, with a ferocious performance as John Brown, the fiery abolitionist.
