2) Olympics. NBC starts at 7 a.m. ET, catching the hockey gold-medal game (8:10 a.m.) and more. It has the closing ceremony at 2:30 p.m., then offers highlights of the 17-day event (5-6 p.m.). After pausing for basketball, it repeats the closing ceremony at 9 and 11:35. There’s more live coverage on the USA Network (4-9 a.m.) and CNBC (1 p.m.).

3) “AARP Movies for Grownups Awards,” 7-9 p.m., PBS. Don’t look for any superheroes or cartoons here. Nominated for best picture are “Hamnet,” “One Battle After Another,” “Sinners,” “Train Dreams” and “House of Dynamite.” Jodie Foster and George Clooney are among the acting nominees and Adam Sandler gets a lifetime award. There are TV categories, too.

4) “All Creatures Great and Small” season-finale, 9 p.m., PBS. The sixth season ends at Christmas, with the holiday muted by flu and by the impact of the just-ended war. Still, it’s a warm hour (including the return of a woman we haven’t seen since the first season), neatly ending an excellent season.

5) “American Dad” season-opener, 9 p.m., Fox. With “The Simpsons” resting, Fox juggles its cartoons. It has new episodes of “Family Guy” (8 and 9:30), “Universal Basic Guys” (8:30) and this one: It’s a wild ride (literally) and quite funny, as Stan discovers his wife’s secret passion.
