1) “Dirty Talk: When Daytime Talk Shows Ruled TV” finale, 9:02 p.m., ABC. This wraps a three-week look at a dark time for daytime TV. Once the benign world of Oprah and Phil, it was overrun by rate, accusations, paternity tests and (shown here) onstage fights.

2) “Shifting Gears,” 8 p.m., ABC. Riley has been seen as the bad sibling — dropped out, ran off, got pregnant — compared to her younger brother, who joined the Navy. But now he’s switched careers and she sees a chance to be the good one. That’s followed by “Abbott Elementary,” with Picture Day catching everyone (including the staff) by surprise.

3) “Shrinking,” Apple TV+. Two of the top streaming shows return this week. On Thursday is Netflix’s lush “Bridgerton”; first is this witty comedy-drama, set among therapists. Paul (Harrison Ford), the boss, faces the early stages of Parkinson’s. Now he meets someone played by Michael J. Fox, who in real life has had Parkinson’s for 35 years.

4) “The Beauty,” 9 p.m., FX. The opening (via flashback) and ending (with a jolt) focus on FBI agents in love. There’s also a blistering monolog by Ashton Kutcher about World Beauty Day (a real thing, on Sept. 9). Mostly, however, this has a fierce and gory confrontation with victims of a brutal disease.

5) “Nova,” 9 p.m., PBS. For six centuries, Angkor was an imposing capital city. In what is now Cambodia, it sprawled for almost 400 square miles and may have had a million people. Then it was vacated in the 15th century; this visits its ruins. It’s an excellent documentary, followed by an OK “Secrets of the Dead,” probing whether there were female gladiators.
