1) “Next Level Chef” opener (shown here), 8 p.m., Fox. Eight professional chefs battle for five spots. (And yes, we mean “battle”; in the early minutes, two women have an intense tug-of-war over a tuna carcass.) The next two weeks will have similar competition for home chefs and for internet chefs.
2) “Animal Control,” 9 p.m., Fox. Three stories interlock neatly: Frank and his nemesis want the same dog … Patel botches a real-estate deal … and Emily tries to lie about her affair with Shred. That last part creates some hilarious moments; afterward, “Going Dutch” is merely OK.
3) “Bridgerton” new season, Netflix. This elegant drama turns to Benedict Bridgerton. As the second son (sort of like princes Harry and Andrew), he’s had a loose life of sex and art. Now he turns serious: He meets a woman at an grand ball and, “Cinderella”-style, can’t find her afterward.
4) “Grey’s Anatomy,” 10 p.m., ABC. Producer Shonda Rimes is sort of competing with herself. On the day her “Bridgerton” returns, her ABC show has a key episode: Dr. Addison Montgomery is back, needing help with a patient. That follows new hours of “9-1-1” (Harry’s rough first day on the job) and “9-1-1: Nashville” (Cammie in grief counseling).
5) “Ghosts,” 8:31 p.m., CBS. Here’s a rerun of the season-opener, with the ghosts scrambling to get Jay out of his deal with the devil’s helper. It’s a fairly good episode, as is the 8 p.m. rerun of “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage”: Georgie and Ruben go way too far to stop a competitor.
