Best-bets for March 3: “NCIS” shows finally return

1) “NCIS” return, 8 p.m., CBS. Emily Wickersham was 27 when she joined “NCIS,” playing a young agent surrounded by long-timers. She stayed for eight seasons, then was gone for five. 2) “NCIS: Origins,” 9 p.m., CBS. “NCIS” fans already knew that Gibbs would be widowed once, then divorced three times. Now this prequel shows him after his second wedding, to real-estate agent Diane Sterling; they try to figure out what’s next. Also returning from a long break is “NCIS: Sydney,” probing a murder in Antarctica.

3) “Best Medicine,” 8 p.m., Fox. This is easily the best episode so far. That’s partly because Martin Clunes — star of the British “Doc Martin” that this is based on — is a guest star. But it’s also because it finds that perfect balance between Dr. Best’s painful past and the weird world he wandered into.

4) “Doc,” 9 p.m., Fox. The previous episode found the hospital going to extremes to avoid a law suit: It let Dr. Miller (Scott Wolf) return, despite the fact that he lied to shift blame for a death. It’s an absurd twist, but it does lead to some dramatic moments in a fairly good episode.

5) “R.J. Decker” debut, 10 p.m., ABC. Readers and viewers savor the goofy Florida crime stories of Carl Hiaasen, Dave Barry and Elmore Leonard. Now Hiassen (“Bad Monkey”) has a character move to TV: Scott Speedman (“Felicity,” “Grey’s Anatomy”) plays an ex-con, starting over as a detective.
