1) “American Idol,” 8-10 p.m., ABC. In a quicker format this year, the show now has its top 20 and is giving them a sweet backdrop: Tonight and next Monday, they’ll be performing at a Hawaiian resort. (Shown here is Zahlie Windsor in last year’s Hawaiian round.)
2) “The Voice,” 9-11 p.m., NBC. Like “Idol,” this is starting a fresh phase. Each of the three coaches now has a 10-person team, so the “battle rounds” begin: Two teammates perform and the coach chooses one; the other could be “stolen” by another coach
3) “St. Denis Medical,” 8 p.m., NBC. Surgeons face tough tasks, but this is the peak: Ron can’t get into the computer system until he retrieves an old password. It’s a funny story, alongside an OK one about Bruce’s job offer. And throughout the episode, a cute baby — passed from nurse to nurse — steals our attention.
4) “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins,” 8:30 p.m., NBC. In an effort to do good — or, at least, seem to be doing good — Reggie re-starts his footall camp for kids. Alas, that has him colliding with his nemesis (Craig Robinson) and the guy’s skinny, blonde wife (Heidi Gardner). There are plenty of fun moments here — plus a few, as usual, that fall flat.
5) MORE: At 8 p.m. ET, Fox Sports1 has a semi-final game in the World Baseball Classic; the winner faces Sunday’s winner in the championship game, Tuesday on Fox. At 10, CBS’ “CIA” tracks a baby-smuggling ring and ABC’s “The Rookie” sees Lucy return to work after the attack.
