Best-bets for March 18: chefs, cops and Trekking

1) “America’s Culinary Cup,” 9:30 p.m., CBS. Here’s a sign that “Cup” contestants (some are shown here) are an interesting bunch: In the final showdown, we deeply don’t want either chef to lose. 2) “The Masked Singer,” 8 p.m., Fox. It’s “Star Trek” night, complete with costumed judges and galactic references. Also, two acts will be unmasked, leaving only five. So far, 11 have been sent home, including some music pros (Billy Ray Cyrus, Jack Wagner, Tone Loc) and lots of others. Last week, it was soccer sportscaster Alexi Lalas,

3) “Abbott Elementary,” 8:30 p.m., ABC. The Janitors’ Ball is coming, so Janine and Melissa help Mr. Johnson with the preparations. That follows “Scrubs,” with J.D. trying the perilous world of post-divorce dating.

4) “Chicago P.I.,” 10 p.m., NBC. Ruzek grows suspicious when a Drug Enorcement agent wants information about his confidential informant. That follows “Chicago Med” (a case has Archer confronting his own mortality) and “Chicago Fire” (Hermann has his moment in the spotlight).

5) ALSO: There’s college basketball at 6:30 and 9 p.m. on TruTV; the winners will get the final two spots in the NCAA tournament, which starts Thursday. And BBC America visits the ’80s for a pair of excellent young-guy films — Francis Coppola’s “The Outsiders” (1983) at 7 p.m. and Rob Reiner’s “Stand By Me” (1986) at 9.
