1) “St. Denis Medical,” 8 p.m., NBC. Three stories pair the main characters neatly. Bruce (shown here) and Matt are on ambulance runs … Joyce and Alex are hiring a head midwife … and Ron and Serena battle over a pen, seemingly the only thing at the hospital that works. It all blend into a slick, funny episode.
2) “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins,” 8:30, NBC. Here’s a comedy mystery: When a sculpture (of Reggie’s head) vanishes, suspects abound. The episode is inconsistent, but has hilarious moments and a clever ending. In another 8:30 comedy choice, CBS’ “DMV” sees people scramble for side gigs in the stretch before pay day.
3) “Born to Bowl,” 9 p.m., HBO, rerunning at 9:30 and 10:50. This second (of five) episodes finds tempers and injuries complicating things as pro bowlers compete. It follows the 7 p.m. “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” (2017), an indie gem that won Oscars for Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell and was nominated for best picture.
4) “Murdoch Mysteries,” www.acorn.tv. The show takes a detour, sending Roberts (a young constable) back to his home town … where, of course, he stumbles into a murder mystery. It’s a fairly strong, smart story … contrasting with an inept one involving Murdoch’s son arriving for college.
5) ALSO: “American Idol” (8-10 p.m., ABC) wraps its stay in Hawaii and “The Voice” (9-11 p.m., NBC) concludes its “battle rounds.” And at 10, ABC’s “The Rookie” has the police and FBI link on a sting operation to protect Bailey.
