We can now declare HBO Max the clear winner of this year’s awards chase.
On April 24, it will add “Marty Supreme” (shown here). That joins a pile that already has “One Battle After Another.”
Those two films dominated the Academy Awards. “One Battle” won best picture and best director … “Sinners” won best actor … and they both won best script — original for “Sinners,” adapted for “One Battle.”
Now they’re joined by “Marty,” which didn’t win any Oscars, but was in the mix for everything. It had nine nominations, including best picture.
Timothee Chalamet (shown here) lost to Michael B. Jordan for best-actor, but was then winner in some other spots, including the Golden Globes.
And all three films were popular with viewers, drawing strong box office. They also air on HBO, which will start showing “Marty Supreme” at 8 p.m. April 25.
