1) “Chicago Med,” 8 p.m., NBC. In a remarkable change-of-pace, “Med” starts a two-week story focusing almost entirely on Dr. Charles (shown here). A soft-spoken psychiatrist, he has soothed other people, amid painful family burdens in his past and present. Now life crashes down, in an ordeal played with subtle skill by Oliver Platt, a five-time Emmy-nominee.
2) “The Masked Singer” finale, 8-10 p.m., Fox. This is down to its final four. Viewers already know Cat Witch is Kylie Cantrall; she’s with Crane, Galaxy Girl and Pugcasso. All will be unmasked and one will be the 14th winner — joining a list that has included T-Pain, Ne-Yo, Nick Lachey, LeAnn Rimes, Wayne Brady, Boyz II Men and more.
3) “Our New World” opener, 10 p.m., PBS. The remarkable resilience of man and nature is shown in the start of a two-week series. Australia re-grows, after a fire destroyed an area larger than England; wildlife emerges at the remains of an Alaskan glacier. People deal with a rogue tiger and dig water for desperate elephants. The result is both depressing and uplifting.
4) “Abbott Elementary,” 8:30 p.m., ABC. Here’s a reminder — perhaps too late — that this is April Fools Day in real life: The teachers face a surge of pranks; Gregory has a plan to survive the day.
5) “Ben-Hur” (1959), 8 p.m., Family Movie Classics. This epic — winner of a then-record 11 Oscars — will also air on three cable channels Sunday (Easter). Also today, BYUtv has “The Messiah” at 1 p.m. ET and the Last Supper episode of “The Chosen” at 9. Fox Nation has a well-crafted hour of Martin Scorsese’s “The Saints,” focusing on Mary.
