1) “The Floor” season-opener, 8-10 p.m., Fox. It’s a fun start, with varied categories (from “Lord of the Rings” to “household chores”) and interesting contestants, from the first ones (shown here) to Brooke Camhi, a lawyer who won the 2017 “Amazing Race.” Many of them are too slow to say “pass”; twice, however, people manage to win with only one second left.
2) “Chicago Med,” 8 p.m., NBC. This wraps a powerful two-parter, focusing on Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt), the psychiatrist. Last week, his world caved in — a failure at the suicide hotline, a patient filing a complaint, a fight with his daughter; he collapsed, alone. This hour — beautifully acted by Platt — starts there, with his mind drifting through past pain.
3) “Nature,” 8 p.m., PBS. In Kenya, the Samburu people are semi-nomadic herders. But they also have the only community-owned rescue center in Africa. As this involving two-parter begins, they have 47 elephants — from babies to 7-year-olds, ready to return to the wild — plus a few ostriches. The result is sometimes heartbreaking, but mostly heart-warming.
4) “Abbott Elementary,” 8:30 p.m., ABC. Apparently these kids do grow up eventually. Now one of Melissa’s most successful students visits. That follows “Scrubs,” as Elliot stuggles with being a good mentor, while holding people accountable.
5) Movies. Freeform has a great stretch, with “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”(2005) at 3 p.m. and the cartoons “Encanto” (2021) and “Moana” (2016) at 5 and 7:35. FX counters with the first two “Guardians of the Galaxy” films (2014 and 2017), at 7 and 9:30.
