Best-bets for April 9: comedy time on Fox and Max

1) “Animal Control,” 9 p.m., Fox. Two weeks from its season-finale, this mixes three fun stories: Frank and Daisy (shown here) find a fresh way to lose money, then try to get it back …. Shred and Patel botch night duty … And Victoria can’t process her break-up with Parker. He’s played by Josh Segarra, who’s way overwrought as the “Best Medicine” cop, but much better here. 2) “Hacks,” HBO Max. The final season begins for a much-honored show. In each of its four seasons, Jean Smart has won the Emmy for best comedy actress … Hannah Einbinder was nominated for supporting actress, winning once … this was nomingted for best comedy series, winning twice.

3) “R.J. Decker,” 8-11 p.m., ABC. If you haven’t been watching this show (10 p.m. Tuesdays), here’s a second chance to see the first episodes. Decker (Scott Speedman), created by clever novelist Carl Hiaasen, is an ex-con. In the first hour, he becomes a private-eye in Miami. In the second, he helps an ex-cellmate; in the third, he searches for a tycoon’s son.

4) “Next Level Chef,” 8 p.m., Fox. It’s the last team round, before the final eight work individually. The chefs create “ranch food” — or what you might find at a ranch resort. It’s a fun hour, despite odious product-placement — pushing a sorta-butter so persistently that we might think Marco Polo had returned with the spices of the Orient.

5) ALSO: Peacock’s “The Miniature Wife” offers a tech accident, Matthew MacFayden and a tiny Elizabeth Banks; all 10 episodes arrive today. And CBS’ “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” finds Mandy in a moneymaking scheme with Georgie’s grandmother. That’s followed by “Ghosts,””Matlock” and, at 10, a serial bride being slain on “Elsbeth.”
