1) “Kitchen Nightmares” season-opener, 8 and 9 p.m., Fox. Who knew there was this much angst and anger in the back of basic, down-home restaurants? In the first hour, a chef faces an immensely disinterested front-of-the-house manager; in the second, an all-American diner wades in ill-will. Somehow, Gordon Ramsay (shown here) seems like the calmest guy in the room.
2) “Once Upon a Time in Space,” 9 p.m., PBS. This four-week British documentary brings a sharp, third-party perspective. Last week included charming glimpses of U.S. astronauts and their families; today offers a warm view of the Soviet side.
3) “Survivor,” 8-9:30 p.m., CBS. The sudden decision to rerun the show’s 50th season will mostly effect Wednesdays. Still, it also involves some Tuesdays, including tonight: “NCIS” is nudged back to 10 p.m., (for a rerun involving a new AI chatbot), with its spin-offs bumped for a week. At 9:30,
“The Neighorhood” has a babyproofing fiasco.
4) Password,” 10 p.m., NBC. Keke Palmer and Tiffany Haddish have done a few films together and should do more. Palmer is this show’s Emmy-winning host and tonight Haddish is a contestant. That follows more auditions for “America’s Got Talent,” which start live shows (and viewer votes) Aug. 18.
5) “R.J. Decker” and “Will Trent,” 8 and 9 p.m., ABC. It’s a rough time at the outskirts: Both shows probe suburban murders. At 10 p.m., another “Will Trent” rerun involves a hurried re-investigation of a Death Row case.
