1) “The Simpsons,” 8 p.m., Fox. Now that the soccer fuss has ended, Fox gets back to its regular line-up. That includes Sunday reruns of its two funniest shows. In this one, Bart’s lab work (shown here) links him with tech billionaires who are intent on living forever. At 8:30, “Animal Control” has Frank on a late-night mission to retrieve his new dog.
2) “The Walking Dead: Dead City” season-opener, 9 p.m., AMC, rerunning at 10:14 and 11:26. Maggie and Negen — fierce, feuding souls — are still in a city awash in zombies. This hour is messy and gory, but it’s also well-crafted and brings huge changes. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smile before,” Negen tells Maggie, without exaggerating.
3) Shark Week begins, Discovery. It’s the 39th annual event, with reruns throughout the day and new shows from 8-11 p.m. That starts at 8 with a K-Pop focus: Ken Jeong (also in tonight’s “Animal Rescue”) links with singer-rapper Rei Ami, trying to change the South Asian perception of sharks.
4) “Grantchester,” 9 p.m., PBS. A week before the end of an excellent, 11-year run, the vicar is at a low point in his life. He snaps out of it for a crisis that ends with a jolting cliffhanger. It’s an OK story, as is “Patience” (8 p.m.), which has lots of atmosphere (in a monastery) and a so-so finish.
5) Movies. There are terrific Harrison Ford films — “The Fugitive” at 7 p.m. on CW or Steven Spielberg’s “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” at 8 on CMT. Or catch Arnold Schwarzenegger in James Cameron’s entertaining “True Lies,” at 8 on ABC. Or go to BBC America for Spielberg’s “Saving Private Ryan” at 5 and Rob Reiner’s “A Few Good Men” at 8.
