1) “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” 9 p.m., AMC, rerunning at 10:01. More than other shows, this covers the full range. It’s sometimes gory and brutal, sometimes surprisingly warm and deep. This hour leans toward the latter, with quietly moving moments for Maggie and Luis (Lauren Cohan, shown here, and Raul Castillo). Then the final minutes are sensational.
2) Princess night, ABC. At 8 p.m., there are highlights from Thursday’s concert featuring Disney-princess characters. That leads into the pleasant-enough “Princess Diaries” (2001) at 8:30: Long before “Odyssey” and the “Prada” films, Anne Hathaway was excellent as a teen who learns she’s royalty; Julie Andrews is perfect as her mentor.
3) “Lanterns” debut, 9 p.m., HBO; also, 10 and 11:41. Green Lantern became a comic-book hero in 1940, then evolved into an intergalactic team. Here’s a series from James Gunn, whose excellent “Superman” is at 6:45. Kyle Chandler plays Hal Jordan, with Aaron Pierre as his recruit, John Stewart.
4) “Animal Control,” 8:30 p.m., Fox. On the night before his delightful “1% Club” has its season finale, we can see Joel McHale with his grumpy side. In a funny rerun, his dad is his roommate That follows a “Simpsons” rerun, with Bart learning there are repercussions to having your dad declared dead.
5) MORE: CBS reruns a good “Tracker” hour (the Halloween escape of an arsonist) at 9 p.m. and the so-so “Marshals” opener (a bomber targets the reservation) at 10. Also, Turner Classic Movies’ Cary Grant marathon peaks with Alfred Hitchcock’s terrific “North by Northwest” (1959) at 5:30 p.m. ET.
