2) Video Music Awards, 8-10:30 p.m., CBS. This rerun us worth re-seeing. The winners are no surprise, but few were announced during the show anyway. Instead, we get wall-to-wall music, much of it spectacular. From the opener (Madonna, with Sabrina Carpenter and Charli XCX) to Gener8ion with Yung Lee, the live performances felt like video epics.

3) Football. The big game has Georgia (ranked No. 2) visiting Alabama, at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. At 3:30, top-ranked Texas faces Oklahoma on ABC and UCLA (No. 21) faces Oregon (No. 13) on CBS.

4) “Apocalypse Now Redux,” 5:45-9 p.m., Showtime. Two decades after his “Apocalypse Now” drew raves, Francis Coppola released this re-edited version, more than 40 minutes longer. That leads a fairly quiet movie night, which has “The Housemaid” at 8 p.m. on HBO, “Bruce Almighty” at 8:15 on Comedy Central and lots of light Halloween tales.

5) MORE: At 9 p.m., Fox reruns the season-opener of its shrill “99 to Beat.” And at 5 and 8 p.m. ET (if needed), TBS has the fifth-and-deciding games of baseball’s American League playoffs. The National League starts its championship round Sunday.
