1) “Cupertino,” 10 p.m., CBS. Last week’s debut was terrific, but this episode adds the show’s best (and most enigmatic) character. His name is Bo and we won’t spoil any surprises about him. He’ll pop up a lot in future episodes, which each have a separate story to tell. This one, a dandy, starts with a tech guy (shown here) overwhelmed by a scowling suitcoat row.
2) “9-1-1” season-opener, 8 p.m., ABC. This new season is being swallowed by sinkholes. Last Friday, a big one ate people and cars on CBS’ “Fire Country”; now a bigger one takes Los Angeles neighborhoods and triggers a volcano. That’s followed by the “9-1-1: Nashville” opener, with a more tangible crisis: “Murder hornets” overwhelm a museum.
3) “Grey’s Anatomy” season-opener,” 10 p.m., ABC. Last season ended with a bridge collapse and a flurry: Owen and Teddy decided to move to London, Blue was fired .Meredith proposed to Nick. Now comes another disaster (at the airport) and new people, led by James Wolk, a gifted actor from “Mad Men,” “Ordinary Joe” and more.
4) “Crystal Lake,” Peacock. Horror fans know about “Friday the 13th” — a peaceful summer camp turns bloody — and its sequels. Now this eight-parter (arriving in one bunch) tells us why it all started. Lindawith great work from Linda Cardellini is superb as a diligent (and protective) single mom.
5) ALSO: The second episode of CBS’ “Eternally Yours” (inconsistent, with some funny moments) is surrounded by the always-fun “Georgie & Mandy” and “Elsbeth.” The three-week “Coven Academy” concludes, from 9-11 p.m. on Freeform. And Netflix’s “The Diplomat” opens its season, a day after Disney+ debuted “VisionQuest.”
