1) “Saturday Night Live,” 11:29 p.m., NBC. A decade after leaving “Saturday Night Live,” Will Forte finally returns as host. That fits neatly with the fact he’s now doing “MacGruber” (shown here) – originally an “SNL” character, then a failed movie, now a series – on Peacock. Forte did eight years on “SNL,” then had his own “Last Man on Earth” series for three years. He’s been busy with voice work and had a serious turn in “Nebraska.” Tonight’s music guest is Maneskin.
2) Football, 4:30 p.m. ET, CBS; 8:15 p.m. ET, Fox. Two star quarterbacks, one young and one not, get the spotlight. It’s Joe Burrows and the Cincinnati Bengals at the Tennessee Titans, then Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers hosting the San Francisco 49ers. Burrows, 25, is in his second season; Rodgers, 38, is in his 17th. Burrows is in his second playoff game, Rodgers in his 21st. The winners today face Sunday’s winners, for spots in the Super Bowl.
3) “Doctor Zhivago” (1965), 8 p.m. ET, Turner Classic Movies. For the third straight week, TCM gives us a supersized Saturday film. This one is long, lush and international. It had a British director, Italian producer, French composer and Egyptian star. Based on a Russian novel, it was filmed in Spain, Portugal, Canada and Finland; it’s officially an American movie. It won five Oscars and was nominated for best picture.
4) “Black Panther” (2018), 8 p.m., TNT. OK, not everyone wants to spend the evening with Zhivago and the Russian revolution. There are plenty of modern action films, led by this excellent one. Others include “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (2017), at 8:45 p.m. on Freeform, and the start of a two-day Harry Potter marathon on Syfy. Today’s films are 10 a,m. and 1:33, 5:30 and 8:30 p.m.
5) ALSO: CBS has reruns of “The Equalizer” and “SWAT,” at 8 and 9 p.m. And for a delightful rerun, wait until midnight; that’s when Syfy repeats the wonderfully weird “Resident Alien” opener. Four more hours follow, getting us ready for the second season, which starts Wednesday.
