It will be an early or late start for ABC’s shows this fall:
Early, if you like unscripted shows — people dancing or romancing, people buying companies or buying vowels or tackling one another. All of those arrive in September or sooner.
But late if you like scripted shows, the sort that networks used to thrive on. ABC only has six of them and only “High Potential” (shown here) starts soon; the other five will wait until Oct. 1 or 16.
The line-up holds other shows until mid-season, both scripted (“The Rookie,” “Will Trent”) and not (“The Bachelor,” “American Idol,” “Celebrity Jeopardy:). The only new show is “9-1-1: Nashville,” a spin-off with Chris O’Donnell, Jessica Capshaw, LeAnn Rimes and Kimberly Williams-Paisley.
The starting dates are:
— Saturdays: College football, starting at 7:30 p.m. ET Aug. 23, with North Carolina Central and Southern University.
— Sundays: “America’s Funniest Home Videos” starts its 36th season at 7 p.m. Sept. 28. Disney movies are at 8, starting with “Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3.”
— Mondays. “Monday Night Football” (shared with ESPN) will take most of the Mondays. That starts Sept. 8 with the Vikings and Bears.
— Tuesdays: “Dancing With the Stars” (simulcast on Disney+) starts its 20th season at 8 p.m. Sept. 16. “High Potential” follows at 10.
— Wednesdays: “The Golden Bachelor” debuts from 8-10 p.m. Sept. 24, with “Shark Tank” at 10. A week later, on Oct. 1, “Shifting Gears” and “Abbott Elementary” are at 8 and 8:30, with “Golden Bachelor” at 9:02.
— Thursdays: The big scripted night waits until Oct. 16. It has “9-1-1” at 8 p.m., “9-1-1: Nashville” at 9 and the 22nd season of “Grey’s Anatomy” at 10.
— Fridays: “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune,” now with Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White, arrives at 8 p.m. Sept. 26, with “20/20” at 9:01.
HIGH POTENTIAL - ÒPilotÓ - A single mom with an exceptional mind is recruited to the LAPD Major Crimes unit, where her unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective. TUESDAY, SEPT. 17 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT) on ABC. (Disney/David Bukach) KAITLIN OLSON
