Best-bets for Aug. 8: two endings and a prequel start

1) “Resident Alien” season-finale, 10 p.m., USA and Syfy. One of TV’s best shows wraps its fourth season. Last week’s hour could have been a great finale: The Mantid and its offspring were slain, people were rescued, Asta and Harry decided to move — she to a city, he to his home planet. 2) “Outlander: Blood of My Blood” debut, 8:02 and 9:24-10:30 p.m., Starz, rerunning at11:25 and 12:46. In “Outlander,” Claire (a British nurse) had a time-travel romance with Jamie (an 18th-century Scot warrior). Now we see the romances of their parents, with a hint of more time-travel.

3) “The Fixer,” 8-10 p.m., Fox. Marcus Lemonis helps a clothing retailer and a culinary space. That concludes a quick run, with six hours bunched into three Fridays. However, reruns are at 8 p.m. on the Fox Business Channel.

4) “Happy’s Place,” 8 and 8:30 p.m., NBC. The first rerun has Bobbie (Reba McEntire) inviting Bella, the half-sister she just met, to be her housemate. The second — a pretty good one — has people coach Bella on breaking up with her boyfriend. Both have excesses, redeemed by the droll humor of Bobbie and two guys (the cook and handyman) at her bar,

5) “Big Brother: Unlocked,” 8 p.m., CBS. This is the second edition of a show that, on alternate Fridays, takes an inside look at “Big Brother.z” It’s followed by reruns of “Fire Country” (Bode and Jake try a dangerous rescue, as an avalanche looms) and “NCIS: Sydney” (death of a Navy choir singer).
