The event was created by nine women in the entertainment industry. That includes Kaie Couric, who was treated for breast cancer and whose husband, Jay Monahan, died of colon cancer at 42.
She’ll speak briefly during the hour, as will other cancer survivors, plus scientists and celebrities. The special is done once every two years, commercial-free, simulcasting on ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and more. This year, it will be on about 30 outlets, including MTV, Lifetime, Comedy Central, HBO and the Paramount Network.
