1) “I Was a Child Bride,” 8-10 p.m., Lifetime. Courtney Stodden was a teen model and singer when Doug Hutchison — a skilled actor who played the head of DHARMA on “Lost” — became her coach. They married when she was 16 and he was almost 51. (They’re shown here, later in the marriage.) Stodden narrates this, with Maggie Lawson (“Psych” and the upcoming “Boston Blue”) as her mom.
2) “48 Hours” season-opener, 10 p.m., CBS. At 17, Benjamin Elliott stabbed his twin sister to death; his lawyers said he was sleepwalking. This hour interviews him, his parents, lawyers on both sides, a sleep-disorder expert and jurors. It’s preceded at 9:30 by a preview of a story about a coach accused of recruiting a former player to help kill her ex-boyfriend.
3) “An Evening With Elton John and Brandi Carlile,” 8-9:30 p.m., CBS. This reruns the special filmed in London’s Palladium Theatre. It includes songs from their album, plus some of John’s classics and a sit-down conversation.
4) Football, 7:30 p.m. ET. Oregon (ranked No. 6) visits Penn State (No. 3), on NBC and Peacock. At the same time, Georgia (No. 5) hosts Alabama (No. 17) on ABC. Earlier, it’s Southern Cal (No. 21) at Illinois (No. 23), at noon on Fox, then Louisiana State (No. 4) at Mississippi (No. 13), at 3:30 on ABC.
5) “Beetlejuice” (1988), 4, 6, 8 and 10 p.m., AMC. If you say “Beetlejuice” three times, we’re told, the nasty guy arrives. So please don’t read this out loud: Today on AMC, it’s Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. It is a good film; so are “Pulp Fiction” (1994), 8 p.m., Showtime; and “Stripes” (1981) and “Blues Brothers” (1980), 7 and 9:30, Sundance.
