“Wild Cards,” the clever Canadian take on crimesolving, will start a new season on Jan. 26.
The show is one of the few successes, as the CW network tries to mine Canada for scripted series. It links a handsome cop (Giacomo Gianniotti of “Grey’s Anatomy”) and a charming con artist (Vanessa Morgan, shown here), in efforts to outsmart the thieves.
Now it will be one of four shows starting seasons in January. They are:
— Jan. 21: “Police 24/7,” a non-fiction show, takes over Wednesdays. It will have new hours at 8 p.m. and reruns at 9.
— Jan. 22: “Scrabble” and “Trial Pursuit” start new hours at 8 and 9 p.m. Thursdays. Craig Ferguson takes over as “Scrabble” host; LeVar Burton continues to host “Trivial Pursuit.”
— Jan. 26: “Wild Cards” moves to Mondays, followed by reruns of the Canadian drama “Sullivan’s Crossing.”
Often, Wednesdays have been CW’s lone night for new, scripted series. That’s currently the time for “Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent” at 8 p.m., with “Wild Cards” reruns at 9.
On other nights, CW has wrestling (Tuesdays), sports (Fridays and Saturdays), movies (including new Harlequin ones, currently on Sundays), magic and such modest-budgeted shows as “Totally Funny Animals” and ”
Whose Line Is It Anyway?”
