O, what to do today (Dec. 17) during Trump talk?

For TV networks — and TV viewers — President Trump’s speech creates instant complications.
The talk is planned for 9 p.m. ET today (Wednesday), just as networks are at a key moment.
That’s halfway through Fox’s “The Floor” finale, a third of the way through CBS’ “Survivor” family. For music fans, it’s halfway through ABC’s new “iHeartRadio Jingle Ball 2025” and just before NBC starts its “Christmas in Nashville” rerun (shown here with Lauren Alaina).

All four of those networks plan to simply pause their regular plans, then simply resume when Trump is done. The delay is variously estimated at 15 to 22 minutes. But what about viewers who don’t want to hear Trump or wait him out? Their options include:
— Sports. A bowl game starts at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN, with Louisiana and Delaware. And there’s pro hockey at 7:30 on TNT and TruTV, with Utah at Detroit.
— A rerun of “Best Christmas Movies Ever,” at 9 p.m. on CW. It talks to actors in some of the past classics.
— Or the Christmas movies themselves. You’ll find them at 8 p.m. on Hallmark, Hallmark Mystery and AMC (which has “Elf,” one of those best ones ever) and at 8 ET on Great American Family.
— Series finales on cable. MTV has “The Challenge,” from 8-9:30 p.m.; BET has Tyler Perry’s “Sistas” at 9.
— Or “Emma,” at 8 p.m. ET on Turner Classic Movies. Gwyneth Paltrow is terrific in an adaptation of a charming, 1996 film. This is from a Jane Austen novel … and we might feel more comfortable back in the early 1800s.
