1) “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins,” 8:30 p.m., NBC. Reggie’s ex-wife (played by Erika Alexander, 56, shown here) reluctantly re-enters the dating world … which, alas, has changed in the smart-phone era. Add another plot (a frantic search for a cat) and you have a sharp, funny episode.
2) “St. Denis Medical,” 8 p.m., NBC. This episode has the same theme (mid-life dating) as “Reggie Dinkins,” but doesn’t do it as well. At a birthday party, the boss (Wendi McClendon-Covey, also 56) hopes to find a guy. That story doesn’t really click, but others do, including a clever and satisfying ending.
3) “American Idol,” 8-10 p.m., ABC. Now that “Hollywood Week” (in Nashville) is done, contestants can retreat to Hawaii. Tonight’s episode has them meet music-industry people; the next two Mondays will have the top 20 performing at a resort. That overlaps with “The Voice,” 9-11 p.m. on NBC.
4) “DMV,” 8:30 p.m., CBS. Everyone is happy to have a new driving examiner arrive … until Colette starts to suspect the newcomer (Anna Camp of “True Blood”and “Perfect Harmony”) will replace her. That’s followed by “FBI” and the second episode of the new “CIA.”
5) World Baseball Classic. At 8 p.m. ET, Fox has the U.S. and Mexico. That wraps up a busy day, with other games on Fox Sports1 (6 a.m., noon, 7 p.m.). Fox Sports2 (noon and 7 p.m.) and Tubi (1 p.m.).
