1) “Nation’s Dumbest” debut, 9 p.m, Fox. Here’s an odd delight, filled with quirky touches. In a school setting, we meet 12 people, some considered brilliant — Andrew Yang, Drew Pinsky — and some not — Steve-O (shown here), Carmen Electra. They face tests of logic and knowledge, with surprising results. Jack Whitehall, the host, adds quiet wit and a British accent.
2) More, Fox. At 3 p.m. ET is the second half of the World Cup semi-finals; England faces Argentina, with the winner going to the championship game Sunday. And at 8, “MasterChef” has a new episode, after a five-week break. After a chocolate-confections task, two of the 16 home chefs go home.
3) ESPY awards, 8-11 p.m., ABC. Lionel Messi (who’s in today’s World Cup game) and Shohei Ohtani (who missed baseball’s All-Star game Tuesday because of injury) and are up for best male athlete, So are Matthew Stafford, football; and Jalen Brunson, basketball. Female nominees are Olympians Hillary Knight and Mikaela Shiffrin, plus A’Jai Wilson, basketball, and Nelly Korda, golf.
4) “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” and “Elsbeth,” 9:30 and 10 p.m., CBS. The new line-up leaves lots of fun (via reruns) after “Big Brother.” “Georgie” (in a change of episodes) has a terrific one about Meemaw’s latest money scheme; “Elsbeth” has an OK one about a rich man’s bunker.
5) “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” 8 p.m., Disney Channel. This movie musical got great work from Rita Ora as an evil queen and newcomer Kylie Cantrall as her disapproving daughter. (They’re also in the next film, which debuts Thursday.) There are vibrant visuals here … and for Disney’s “Cruella” (2021), at 7 p.m. on Freeform.
