1) “Once Upon a Time in Space” opener, 9 p.m., PBS. For decades, the U.S. and Russia fought for space supremacy. Then — reluctantly, at first, in the Mir shuttle (shown here) — they merged. This is a huge story, told with third-party brilliance by British filmmakers. Over four Tuesdays, interviews with astronauts and their kin bring passion and surprising bursts of warmth and humor.
2) All-Star game, 8 p.m. ET, Fox. Baseball’s best (or some of them) collide. The American League lost Aaron Judge and Vlad Guerrero to injuries, but have Yordan Alvarez, Ben Rice and more. The National lost Shohei Ohtani (opening a starting spot for home run leader Kyle Schwarber) to injury and top pitchers (Paul Skenes, Jacob Misiorowski) due to Sunday starts.
3) World Cup, 3 p.m. ET, Fox. Before switching to baseball, Fox has this final-four soccer match with France and Spain. The winner goes to Sunday’s championship game; the loser is in Saturday’s third-place game.
4) “Password,” 10 and 10:30 p.m., NBC. It’s a night of “Real Housewives of New York” people. Dorinda Medley faces Jimmy Fallon in one episode, with Luann de Lesseps, a former countess and sometimes actress, in the other. That follows “America’s Got Talent” auditions, from 8-10 p.m.
5) MORE: At 8 p.m., HBO reruns the start of its documentary about the Burning Man festival; the other three parts continue on Thursdays. Also at 8, the Disney Channel has the third “Descendants” musical; the fifth will debut Thursday. Freeform haw the witty “Inside Out” at 4:25 p.m., with the third and fourth “Toy Story” films at 6:30 and 8:55.
