For one network, the start of the fall season will be tidy and uncomplicated.
Fox will stuff all of its season-openers into one week. That starts with games (“Name That Tune” and “Weakest Link”) on Monday, Sept. 21, and ends with laughs — “The Simpsons” (shown here), “Animal Control” and more — on Sunday, Sept. 27.
And yes, it will all feel familiar. The season starts with zero new shows.
Fox is pinning its hopes on a sunny reboot of “Baywatch,” but that will arrive at mid-season, getting a big pro-football lead-in. Also coming later are two other new shows — the unscripted “Marriage Market” and Stephen Fry and Jenna Elfman in “The Interrogator” — plus returning shows: “Murder in a Small Town,” “Memory of a Killer,” “The Masked Singer” and more, including lots of cartoons and food shows.
At first, however, things will be uncluttered. Starting Sept. 21:
— Mondays: “Celebrity Name That Tune,” 8 p.m.; “Celebrity Weakest Link,” 9.
— Tuesdays: “Best Medicine,” 8 ; “Doc,” 9.
— Wednesdays: “The Floor,” 8; “99 to Beat,” 9.
— Thursdays: “Hell’s Kitchen,” 8; “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test,” 9.
— Sundays: “The Simpsons,” 8; “Animal Control,” 8:30; “Universal Basic Guys,” 9; “Grimsburg,” 9:30.
— Also: Fridays and Saturdays continue to be sports nights. For Fox, the college football season starts Sept. 4.
