For fans of TV dramas, there are two pieces of good news:
“Maigret” (shown here) will return Oct. 18, for its second season on PBS. And “Sullivan’s Creek” will be back sometime next year, for its fifth on CW.
“Creek” ended its fourth season June 22, then was left in limbo.
It’s a Canadian production, filmed amid the quiet beauty of Nova Scotia. Morgan Kolan plays Maggie, a former surgeon who moved back to the resort her father created; Chad Michael Murray plays Cal, a former lawyer who’s her perfect guy … or would be, if not for the constant complications.
“Maigret” adapts Georges Simenon novels about a French police detective, given to long trenchcoats and intense stares.
The stories remain set in France, but the casting is unapologetically British. Benjamin Wainwright stars, with Nathaniel Parker (the former “Inspector Lynley” star) as his disapproving boss and Stephanie Martini as Maigret’s wife, a key force in some of the first-season stories.
