1) “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” season-openers, 9 and 9:32 p.m., FX and FXX. The 18th season begins, for the longest-running American sitcom ever. That’s due to short seasons (10 episodes this time) and wildly weird stories. Tonight’s first episode is on the wedding day for Frank (Danny DeVito, shown here at the right in a previous episode). It’s bizarre and sometimes hilarious; the second is fairly funny.
2) “The 1% Club” season-finale, 8 p.m., Fox. TV’s best game show ends with an odd episode. All 100 contestants are second-chancers from previous shows … including one with an extremely different outcome. Also, a devilishly difficult question comes quite early, dumping a mob of people in one swoop.
3) “American Ninja Warrior,” 8-10 p.m., NBC. This is the mid-point in the three-week burst of “national finals.” Survivors of these side-by-side races meet on Aug. 31 for the $250,000 prize.
4) “All American,” 8 p.m., CW. Last week’s events — with ICE raids descending on South Crenshaw — had a potent effect. Now both football coaches link to help the community. Also, Coop, Layla, KJ, Breanna and Khalil scramble to save their loved ones.
5) MORE: Ever notice how rarely you see dentists competge with funeral directors? That happens on “The Quiz With Balls,” at 9:02 on Fox. At 10, NBC’s “The Wall” reruns an hour with two boat captains who helped during the Hawaiian wildfires. Also, “The Chelsea Detective” (www.acorn.tv) has a sharp mystery centering on a beauty salon.
