1) “Comics Unleashed” anniversary special, 9-11 p.m., CBS. At 18, Byron Allen was the youngest comedian to be on Johnny Carson’s show; at 65, Allen (shown here at one of his shows) has a company that owns stations, The Weather Channel, BuzzFeed and more. At the core are micro-budget shows like “Unleashed,” which was obscure until it took over Stephen Colbert’s spot; it marks its 20th year.
2) “The Amazing Race: 25 Years Around the World,” 8-9 p.m., CBS. Here’s another long-lasting show; it has won 10 Emmys as best reality competition series, including one string of seven straight. After tonight’s special, it will open its season from 9:30-11 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
3) Baseball playoffs. The Wild Card round begins, with four games. They’ll all be on Peacock and will be split between NBC and the NBC Sports Network. That repeats Wednesday and (if needed) Thursday, On Saturday, the next round starts on TBS, TruTV and HBO Max.
4) “Best Medicine,” 8 p.m., Fox. This pleasant town doesn’t get much crime, but there’s a break-in at the pharmacy. Dr. Best figures there must be more to the story. Throw in another crisis — a food truck competes with the local restaurant — and you have an excellent episode. That’s followed by “Doc,” with three family members arriving in critical condition.
5) “R.J. Decker,” 10 p.m., ABC. Already in its third episode of the season (before many shows have their first), this turns serious: Emi is charged with her father’s murder. That follows “Dancing With the Stars” (8-10 p.m.), which tonight features what’s called “yacht rock” music.
