1) “Marble Hall Murders” finale, 9 p.m., PBS. It’s time to solve the murder of Eliot … and of his grandmother (shown here), long ago … and of the matriarch in the novel he wrote, hinting at real life. That wraps an ingenious, six-part story. We see Susan solve the real murders and imagine chats with the fictional detective … who solves the one in Eliot’s novel.
2) More finales, PBS. At 8 p.m., “Marlow Murder Club” wraps a good two-parter, involving the death of a celebrity chef. And at 10, “Trespasses” — a brilliantly acted four-parter concludes: Michael, a crusading Protestant lawyer, has been killed; Cushla, a Catholic teacher and bartender, must keep their affair secret. The result is deeply emotional.
3) “Marshals,” 8 p.m., CBS. An ex-cop makes a formidable opponent when he goes on a killing spree. That’s in a solid hour that also finds both Belle and Kayce dealing with family problems. It’s followed by a new “Tracker” and a rerun of Thursday’s superb “Cupertino” opener.
4) “The Place Beyond the Pines” (2013), 8-11:30 p.m., VH1. Two good-guy actors go against their images in this well-made indie movie. Ryan Gosling is a motorcycle-riding robber; Bradley Cooper is a cop, partly corruptible. We follow both stories and then another generation, in a strong, smart movie.
5) MORE. Even the ABC movie, often family-friendly, is in a Halloween mood; “The Sixth Sense” (1999) — a terrific film, albeit an extreme stretch — is at 8:33 p.m. For non-scary fare, try Sandra Bullock’s “Miss Congeniality” (2000) at 7:30 on CW or “A League of Their Own” (1992) and “Dirty Dancing” (1987), at 5:30 and 8:30 on CMT.
