1) “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” season-finale, 9 p.m. today, FX. There may be a slasher in Dee’s neighborhood, so she wants the guys to help. (They’re shown here in a previous episode.) They refuse, of course, and plan their own sleepover. Then things build in wild — and, at times, wildly funny — ways.
2) “Paquito D’Rivera: From Carne y Frijol to Carnegie Hall,” 10 p.n,, PBS, A sax prodigy, D’Rivera soloed with the Cuban National Symphony as a teen, But his favorite music was jazz, which the government disliked. He defected to the U.S. (losing his marriage and much of his son’s childhood) and found quick fame. It’s s strong story, rippling with great music.
3) “Harlan Coben’s Final Twist,” 10 p.m., CBS. This true-crime show skips its usual format tonight. There’s no real final twist; the only breakthrough happens in a lab. Still, we get the intense story of one person’s 12-year struggle to re-open the case of her teen daughter’s murder. The effort has led to a key procedure-change in several states.
4) Baseball. Now we learn which teams will be in the World Series. Today. there’s a National League game on Fox or Fox Sports 1 and an American League one on TBS, TruTV and HBO Max. This best-of-seven round continues until Oct. 19 or 20, at the latest; the World /Series starts Oct. 23.
5) “Signora Volpe,” www.acorn.tv. On the bed of a powerful couple, there’s a stranger who is handsome, naked and dead. That sets up an involving story — a better one than last week’s opener — with quick twists. It’s the middle of a season that has three movie-length stories, set amid Italian beauty.
