Still sexy at 81? Sir Roderick sets a CBS special

So the new question might be: Do we still think he’s sexy?
That’s Rod Stewart (shown here), of course. Now “Forever Young: A Grammy Salute to Rod Stewart Live” will be 8-10 p.m. May 19 on CBS.”
Stewart was 33 when he asked the musical question: “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” It was one of his three singles to reach No. 1 in the U.S,; joining “Maggie May” and “Tonight’s the Night.”
Now, at 81, Sir Roderick Stewart has sold 120 million records and is still touring. He launched his “One More Time” tour in 2024 and then extended it. This special will include a Miami concert, plus backstage and archival footage. Read more…

CBS gives us Earth, Wind & Cyndi

As TV networks scramble for their niches, CBS has found a big one — music, especially the kind that spans generations and continents.
Earlier, the network announced an “Earth, Wind & Fire” celebration for Sept. 21. Now it has added Cyndi Lauper one (shown here) for two weeks later.
Those specials, also on Paramount+, involve top music producers from different eras. The EWF one is from Ben Winston, 43; the Lauper one is from Ken Ehrlich, 82. Read more…

The night soared with Grammy moments

People used to talk about “Grammy moments” – the bits that made Grammy-night special.
But this time? The entire night — concluding with album-of-the-year for Beyonce’s “Cowboy Carter” (shown here) felt like one mega-moment. Each song seemed like the curtain-closer for a Broadway show or an epic party.
It helped, of course, that the new generation of performers can do much more than sing. There was Benson Boone, doing two back-flips; there was Sabrina Carpenter somehow channeling Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball and a pop diva. Read more…
