1) Olympics (teams). It’s finals times for men’s teams. Volleyball has its gold-medal match at 7 a.m. ET on NBC; beach volleyball is on USA, with bronze at 3 p.m. and gold at 4:30. Basketball has bronze at 5 a.m. on USA, then gold at 3:30 p.m. on NBC, with the women’s finals on Sunday morning.
2) Olympics (individual). There’s a final flurry of track (shown here in an earlier event) finals, from 1-3:30 p.m. ET on NBC. And there’s more, including diving, wrestling, boxing and beyond. That’s on cable and NBC, with everything streaming on Peacock, then recapped from 8-11 p.m. on NBC.
3) Streep-athon, Turner Classic Movies. Two of Meryl Streep’s Oscar-winning roles, “Kramer vs. Kramer” and “Sophie’s Choice,” are at 6 and 8 p.m. ET. She also won for “Iron Lady” and was nominated for 18 more, including “Florence Foster Jenkins” (2 p.m.), “Doubt” (4), and “The French Lieutenant’s Woman” (10:45 p.m.).
4) “Mammals,” 8-9:23 p.m., BBC America. Last week, we saw some remarkable animals persist in the extreme cold. Here’s the opposite, from 40 to almost 50 degrees Celsius (104 to almost 122 Fahrenheit). Australia’s outback, for instance, ranges from spiny echidna to massive camels, now feral after being released in the wild.
5) More, 8 p.m. CBS has a “SWAT” rerun, with extremists planning massive Los Angeles explosions, ABC has three hours of “Will Trent” reruns. And Lifetime takes two looks at “psychic” star Miss Cleo – with a movie (repeating at midnight) and a documentary (at 10:03 p.m.).
