1) “MTV Video Music Awards,” 8 p.m., MTV, BET, CMT, Comedy Central; also, MTV has a preview at 6:30, repeats awards at 11. Megan Thee Stallion (shown here) hosts and performs. Also performing: Katy Perry (the Video Vanguard winner), Lenny Kravitz, Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, LL Cool J, Halsey and more.
2) “America’s Got Talent,” 8-10 p.m., NBC. This was nudged back a day, because of the debate. Now 12 acts perform – four singers (ages 9, 14, 20 and 55), a band, two magicians, a comedian, an aerialist and dog, drone and dance acts. Viewers vote; they’ll learn Thursday which six are finalists, joining four who are already set.
3) “Master Chef,” 8 and 9 p.m., Fox. A week from the finale, Gordon Ramsay sets up a pop-up, rooftop restaurant. He then trims from six chefs to five and gives the survivors two challenges.
4) “Love, Romance & Chocolate” (2019) and “His & Hers” (2024), 7 and 9 p.m., Hallmark. It’s Lacey Chabert time. On Tuesday, the Hallmark+ streamer debuted, introducing her “Celebrations” reality show, plus shows (a series and mini-series) starring others. Now Hallmark reruns these, with Chabert as a chocolatier and a lawyer.
5) “Casablanca” (1942), 8 p.m. ET, Turner Classic Movies. The American Film Institute puts this at No. 3 on its all-time list, trailing only “Citizen Kane” and “The Godfather.” It has razor-sharp dialog, lovelorn stars (Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman) and a song that we keep wanting Sam to play again.
