1) “Saturday Night Live,” 11:29 p.m., NBC. Doing things big in its 50th season, “SNL” has former cast members hosting for the next two weeks. Tonight, it’s Chris Rock (shown here), with only his fourth hosting gig in 28 years; Gracie Adams is the music guest. Next week, Martin Short hosts.
2) “Nugget is Dead? A Christmas Story” (2024), 8-10 p.m., CBS. After a slow start, this Australian film offers subtle humor and appealingly odd characters. Vic Zerbst co-wrote it and stars as Steph, who plans to spend Christmas with her boyfriend’s rich family. Then comes word that the family dog may or may not be dying.
3) “Hollywood Christmas Parade,” 8-10 p.m., CW. It’s a busy night, with performers (Jon Secata. “America’s Got Talent” winner Terry Fator, “American Idol” finalists Clay Aiken and Elliot Yamin), plus nine bands, dancers, drummers, hot rods and the Los Angeles cast of “Wicked.”
4) Football. Today’s only game is the Army-Navy classic, at 3 p.m. ET on CBS. Filling any void is basketball. The pros are finishing their in-season tournament, with semi-finals at 4:30 p.m. on TNT and 8 on ABC … which has the finals Tuesday. College games are led by Purdue-Texas A&M (noon, CBS) and Gonzaga-Connecticut (8 p.m., Fox).
5) Movies. The British give us a full range: There’s clever (“Love, Actually,” 2003, 2:30 and 8:30 p.m., E), elegant (“The Go-Between,” 1971, 8 p.m. ET, Turner Classic Movies) and exciting. Sundance has the first James Bond films, out of order — “From Russia With Love” (1963), 4:45; “Dr. No” (1962), 7:15; and “Goldfinger” (1964). 9:45.
