2) Sports surge. The United Football League has reached its semi-finals. It’s Michigan at Birmingham at 3 p.m. ET on ABC, then D.C. at St. Louis at 6 on Fox. That second game overlaps with basketball: At 8 p.m. (with a pre-game show at 7:30), ABC has Indiana at Oklahoma City, in the second game of the best-of-seven NBA finals.

3) “Animal Control” and “Going Dutch,” 9 and 9:30 p.m., Fox. The only Fox comedies pop up here, for post-football reruns. “Animal Control” has a good one, with Frank (Joel McHale) reluctantly asking for help from a nemesis (Ken Jeong). “Dutch” has a fairly good one: Maggie’s sometimes-lover visits the Army base, while her dad (Denis Leary) fumes.

4) “The Chi,” 9 p.m., Showtime. Mothers Day gets complicated for Emmett, as he tries to simultaneously celebrate the moms of his children. Meanwhile, Alicia gathers women who have lost their children; her vengeful grief grows.

5) ALSO: On the light side, CW has the delightful “Back to the Future” (1985) at 7:30 p.m.; Freeform has a couple of the best recent Disney cartoons — “Encanto” (2021) at 6:20 and “Coco” (2017) at 8:30. On the opposite side is “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” at 9 p.m. on AMC, rerunning at 10:17; Maggie considers an uneasy alliance.
