Week’s top-10 for July 21: games, sharks, daredevil action

1) “Daredevil: Born Again,” 8-11 p.m. Tuesday, FX. Sixty years after Stan Lee created him, this blind crimefighter thrives. Ben Affleck played him in a 2003 movie; then Charlie Cox (shown here) took over. Cox starred in a Netflix series for three seasons and was briefly in a movie, a mini-series and three TV series. Then came a nine-hour series on Disney+; it now reaches FX. Read more…

2) “Match Game” debut, 9 p.m. Wednesday, ABC. Over the past 63 years, this has leapt across three networks, plus non-network syndication. Hosts have ranged from Gene Rayburn in 1962 to Alec Baldwin, from 2016-21. Now this version is hosted by Martin Short; Selena Gomez, his “Only Murders in the Building” colleague, is a panelist.

3) “Family Law” season-opener, 8 p.m. Wednesday, CW. Abby has troubles at home ( her daughter wrote a “my mom’s alcoholism” essay) and beyond. Her dad — who’s her boss — and brother are spiraling from break-ups. And now she has a tough case: A woman who rented a sort of fake family wants those kids to receive her real-life money, via inheritance.

4) “Shark Week,” Discovery. Yes, “Shark Fest” continues on Nat Geo Wild. But now the original is back for its 37th year, until 8 p.m. Sunday. It has reruns all day and new hours at night, with such ominous titles as “How to Survive a Shark Attack” (8 p.m. Tuesday), “Florida’s Death Beach” (9 p.m. Friday) and “Attack of the Devil Shark” (8 p.m. Saturday).

5) “Nautilus,” 9 p.m. Sunday, AMC, rerunning at 10:10. After last week’s heroic effort to save the ship, Lucas found herself drifting to the bottom of the sea. That’s where we start now, in an hour that mixes quiet awe and deep tragedy. It’s a mixed blessing, as usual, with some parts stretching way too long. Still, this is a grand-scale adventure that keeps us watching.

6) “Renaissance: The Blood and the Beauty” finale, 9 p.m. Tuesday, PBS. The end of an era is shown through the life of Michelangelo. Working for leaders he sometimes opposed, he was praised, jailed, pardoned, praised anew. He lived to 88, outlasting rivals; his work has lived for five centuries. Beautifully filmed, this offers gorgeous art and ugly souls

7) “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire,” 8 p.m. Wednesday, ABC. Two game-show hosts show up as contestants. First, it’s Drew Carey, teamed with Aisha Tyler. Then Ken Jennings, who is a genius, teams with Matt Damon, who played one in “Good Will Hunting.” That should be fun, because Damon has long had a mock-feud with the show’s host, Jimmy Kimmel.

8) “Washington Black,” Wednesday, Hulu. It’s Sterling K. Brown’s second mini-series of the year. He starred in “Paradise”; now he produces and has a small role in this tale. It follows a boy who grew up in slavery, fled to Nova Scotia and uses his inventive mind for global adventure. Also streaming: Adam Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore 2,” Friday on Netflix.

9) “Big Brother: Unlocked” debut, 8-9 p.m. Friday, CBS. The “Big Brother” world keeps expanding. The show bulges to 90 minutes on Wednesdays. (Thursdays and Sundays remain an hour.) And this special will appear on alternate Fridays; ex-contestants are hosts (offering backstage glimpses) and have comedy moments. “Fire Country” and “NCIS: Sydney” follow.

10) “Animal Control,” 9 p.m. Sunday, Fox. It’s good to see comedy back on Fox’s Sundays, after a half-summer lay-off. This episode, a pretty good one, has a fundraiser; Frank (Joel McHale) employs charm and a baby kangaroo. Also: “Simpsons” at 8 (bad airline passengers); “Krapopolis,” 8:30 (Fertility Fest) and “Going Dutch,” 9:30 (drone invades war games).
