Week’s top-10 for July 28: Legos, disasters & Kaitlin

1) “Lego Masters” finale, 8 p.m. today, Fox. There have been some amazing builds, peaking last week (shown here) with ones that sent ping-pong balls on wild rides. Now three duos remain — brothers, siblings and school colleagues (a coach and a band director). It’s the final night for host Will Arnett. Kelly Osbourne hosts four junior episodes; Nick Cannon takes over next year. Read more…

Now three duos remain — brothers, siblings and school colleagues (a coach and a band director). It’s the final night for host Will Arnett. Kelly Osbourne hosts four junior episodes; Nick Cannon takes over next year.

2) “Human Footprint” season-finale, 9 p.m. Wednesday, PBS. Extinctions can be natural, we’re told here; 99% of species since the beginning of time are extinct. But humans accelerate this … or slow it. We see efforts by scientists (a “frozen zoo” cryo bank, a “de-extinction” project) and laymen, helping elephants in Kenya, trees in Appalachia, orcas and more.

3) Kaitlin Olson shows. It’s a double Kaitlin summer. In a “High Potential” rerun (8 p.m. Tuesday, ABC), she probes a CEO’s death at an office party. In a new “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” (9 p.m. Wednesday, FX and FXX, rerunning at 9:30 and 10 on FXX), she thinks she’s going to a horse track. The result gets too dark, but Olson has some funny moments.

4) “Hurricane Katrina: Race Against Time,” today, National Geographic. Here’s the five-hour documentary in one gulp. From 5-8 p.m. are episodes that debuted Sunday, showing the storm crush New Orleans. At 9 and 10 (rerunning at 11 and midnight) is the finale. We see rescue efforts continue; some people rebuild the city, others find new lives elsewhere.

5) “Survival Mode,” 10 p.m. today, NBC. In 2017, a new rail route opened, aimed at saving 10 minutes in the Seattle/Portland trip. The inaugural train derailed, killing three; injured were 57 people on the train, plus eight more in nearby cars. Three soldiers from those cars rushed to help passengers escape from the wreckage. Here is footage, plus first-hand accounts.

6) “Bob’s Burgers,” 8 and 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Fox. First, the kids play at a marine scrapyard, with dangerous results; then the family tries kite-flying. Those are new episodes, followed by a fun “The 1% Club” rerun, including the guys from the first “Farmer Wants a Wife” season. Also Thursday: the “Project Runway” season-opener, 9-11 p.m. on Freeform.

7) “My Oxford Year,” Friday, Netflix. An American (Sofia Carson) has a life-changing year studying abroad. That wraps a busy Netflix week, with debuts of a comedy (“Leanne,” Thursday) and documentaries: “WWE: Unreal” and “Trainwreck: Storm Area 51,” Tuesday; “Son of Sam Tapes,” Wednesday. Also streaming: Jason Momoa’s “God of War,” Friday, Apple TV+.

8) “Fire Country,” 8 p.m. Friday, CBS. This fall, Morena Baccarin (formerly of “V,” “Homeland” and “Gotham”) stars in “Sheriff Country.” First, here’s her second “Fire Country” episode; she joins her nephew Bode, probing the attempted murder of her estranged father. That’s followed by two more reruns — a ski-lift malfunction and a house fire gone out of control.

9) “Grantchester,” 9 p.m. Sunday, PBS. A solid season ends with a strong episode. There’s a murder case, of course; it’s a good one, linked to threats aimed at a right-wing activist. And there’s a season of personal angst to unpack. Last week, Geordie traced possible info about the birth mother of Alphy … who raged at the intrusion, Now both must adjust.

10) “Nautilus,” 9 p.m. Sunday, AMC. So far, these have had parallel worlds: Underwater is the Nautilus and a rogue crew seeking freedom; on the surface is a battleship, seeking control. Now Arctic ice links them for a reluctant (and temporary) truce. There are good moments here … plus others that will befuddle those of us who don’t know how to play cricket.
