1) College football. The first full Saturday of the season starts with a clash of titans. Texas (shown here, last season), ranked No. 1 in a pre-season poll, is at Ohio State, No. 3, at noon ET on Fox. The rest of the day has lots of mismatches, with a key exception: At 7:30 p.m., ABC has Louisiana State (No. 9) at Clemson (No. 4). Also at 7:30: New Mexico is at Michigan on NBC.
2) More sports. There are lots of sports-stuffed Saturdays ahead. Today brings tennis (the U.S. Open, starting at 11 a.m. ET, ESPN2). baseball (7:15 on Fox, with the game varying by region) and NASCAR (7:30 p.m., CW).
3) “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014), 5:30 p.m., FX. Mastering the knack of blending humor with sci-fi action, writer-director James Gunn has been conquering all media. His “Superman” is in theaters, “Peacemaker” is streaming (on HBO Max) and this film is on cable. Skipping the second “Guardifootballans,” FX has the third one (2023) at 8 p.m.
4) “FBI,” 8 p.m., CBS. This rerun starts with a series of targeted bombings. There are fears that it’s the start of a gang war — until a tip points toward an unexpected — and very dangerous — perpetrator.
5) “Saturday Night Live,” 11:29 p.m., NBC. Here’s another chance to see the season-finale. Scarlett Johansson hosts and her husband, Colin Jost, trades jokes with his “Weekend Update” colleague, Michael Che. The music guest is Bad Bunny.
