1) Football, 8:15 p.m. ET, NBC. . The pro season begins, promising to dominate TV viewership. This opener has the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles (shown here in a previous season), 14-3 in the regular season, host the Dallas Cowboys 7-10, with a pre-game show at 7. Most of the other teams start Sunday.
2) “The Paper,” Peacock. A dozen years after “The Office” ended, its spirit returns, with all 10 episodes airing now. That company (Dunder Mifflin), we’re told, was bought by a paper company that also owns The Toledo Truth Teller. Now an idealistic (but semi-inept) chap wants to rescue a once-mighty newspaper. In oft-funny ways, his staffers range from diligent to self-obsessed.
3) “NCIS: Tony & Ziva,” Paramount+. Cote de Pablo basically left “NCIS” in 2013; Michael Weatherly left two years later. They both returned briefly, then left again as their characters re-united with each other and their daughter. Now we find them in Europe, for a 10-week series of international danger.
4) “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,” 9 p.m., CBS. After rerunning the hilarious opening episode last week, CBS follows with the second — another winner. Again, Georgie is tugged between his families: There’s his new one at Mandy’s house and his old one, as his sister gets in trouble at school.
5) ALSO: ABC gives the night to “Celebrity Family Feud” reruns. Intriguing possibilities have the Arquettes facing Martina McBride’s family at 9 and the Globetrotters and Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders at 10. Before that, catch “My Favorite Year” (1982), at 6:15 p.m. ET on Turner Classic Movies. It’s a fun, fictional look at a TV show a lot like Sid Caesar’s.
