2) “Only Murders in the Building” season-opener, Hulu. At 75, Martin Short is at a career peak. He has a game show (ABC’s “Match Game”) and an Emmy nomination for the previous “Murders” season — in which his character married Meryl Streep’s. Now they’re newlyweds, helping solve the death of the building’s doorman.

3) “Alien: Earth,” 8 p.m., FX, rerunning at 9:20 and 10:40. Last week regressed into a horror-filled flashback. Now we return to the heart of the show — dying children whose minds were placed into synthetic bodies. There are beautifully acted moments for Sydney Chandler as Wendy (who’s a synth) and Alex Lawther as her brother (who’s not).

4) “The 1% Club,” 8 p.m., Fox. All 100 contestants are single, giving host Joel McHale (married for 29 years) lots of room for humor. This week’s questions seem misplaced at times, but the show is still great fun.

5) “Becoming Thurgood,” 10 p.m., PBS. The son of a waiter and a teacher, Thurgood Marshall changed the world. He won 29 of 32 Supreme Court cases, culminating in the one that banned school segregation. Here’s a profile.
