1) “A Grammy Salute to Cyndi Lauper,” 8-10 p.m., CBS. In 1983, Lauper (shown here) told us “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.” That was in a Grammy-winning album that also had “She Bop” and “Time After Time.” More hits followed, led by “True Colors” and the Tony-winning “Kinky Boots.” She performs here with Cher, John Legend, Sza, Mickey Guyton and more.
2) “Maigret” debut, 9 p.m., PBS. For 95 years, Jules Maigret has solved crimes in novels, films and TV shows. Like previous versions, this has him as a French police detective with big overcoat, stern demeanor and clever wife; unlike others, he has a fashion-model look. In this two-parter, he insists on avenging a low-level thief, killed by high-level nasties.
3) More, PBS. Two dramas begin, both based on true British events. At 8 p.m., a two-parter views a key TV interview late in Margaret Thatcher’s time as prime minister. At 10, a standard heist accidentally grabs a fortune in gold. Hugh Bonneville (“Downton Abbey”) has great moments in this six-parter.
4) “Krapopolis,” 9 p.m., Fox. This new idea (democracy) isn’t working out so well. Last week, the people elected Shlub, whose main interest is making war so he can get better drinks. That’s in a cartoon night that starts with “The Simpsons” (8 p.m.) and Supt. Chalmers working as a power-plant janitor.
5) “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” 9 p.m., AMC, rerunning at 10:25. Imagine one of the great Sergio Leone/Clint Eastwood westerns, only with motorcycles and zombies. That’s what we get here. The first half is bleak; the second half — in the Spanish desert (Leone’s old turf), battling bandits — is brisk, bracing and exciting.
ALSO: Facing a pro-football flurry, the baseball playoffs only have two games today, both on Fox Sports1. It will be Yankees-Bluejays at 4:08 p.m. ET and Tigers-Mariners at 8:38.
