1) “Grey’s Anatomy” (shown here) season-opener, 10 p.m., ABC. The 22nd season begins for what is the fourth-longest-running primetime drama (behind two “Law & Order” shows and “NCIS”) in U.S. TV history. And it begins in mid-crisis: Last season ended with an explosion in the hospital. After waiting five months, viewers now see a scramble to save patients and doctors.

2) “9-1-1: Nashville” debut, 9 p.m., ABC. This is ABC’s only new show of the season — and it’s not terribly new. It’s a spin-off of “9-1-1” (which starts its season at 8 p.m.) and related to the departed “9-1-1: Lone Star.” Chris O’Donnell stars (with Jessica Capshaw and LeAnn Rimes), dealing with a family secret and a tornado threatening a country-music festival.

3) “Matlock,” 9 p.m., CBS. Coming up next (this Sunday and next Thursday) are the two new episodes — good ones — that show where this is headed in its second season. First, here’s a rerun of the first-season finale; we finally learn who buried the drug study and whose idea that was.

4) “Georgie & Mandie’s First Marriage,” 8 p.m., CBS. It a rerun of the season-finale, one that sends the show in fresh directions for next week’s season-opener. That’s followed by a rerun of the “Ghosts” finale, with a closing jolt. At 10, “Elsbeth” reruns a pleasant hour, with Matthew Broderick as a scheming college-admissions consultant.

5) “English Teacher,” 9 and 9:30 p.m., rerunning at 10:05 and 10:35. The first episode juggles two stories, one hilarious (college-testing day) and one not. The second brings things together for one story — often very funny — about the school’s frantic effort to get a higher rating.

ALSO: TBS has a baseball playoffs doubleheader, with Phillies-Dodgers at 6:08 p.m. ET and Brewers-Cubs at 9:08. The Dodgers and Brewers each lead 2-1 in the best-of-five series and could wrap it tonight.
