1) “Murder in a Small Town,” 8 p.m., Fox. Beautifully directed by Amanda Tapping (the “Stargate” star), this is as gorgeous visually as it is nasty emotionally. Short on sleep, Sid crashed his police car into a woods; Karl (left, the police chief), fresh from an argument with Cassandra, is in Seattle to confront the artist/serial killer (center) he arrested. The rest is grimly compelling.
2) “The American Revolution,” 8 p.m., PBS, rerunning at 10. Monday’s chapter ended with cheers for the Declaration of Independence; now comes the hard part. Washington makes a tactical blunder in Long Island, barely surviving alive. He soon fears the revolution is doomed — until, in a bold stroke, he crosses the Delaware with men and cannons.
3) “Dancing With the Stars,” 8-10 p.m., ABC. A week from the finals, six sorta-stars remain. There’s Zac Efron’s brother and Steve Irwin’s son, plus gymnast Jordan Chiules and three reality/social-media people — Alix Earle, Elaine Hendrix and Whitney Leavitt. Tonight, in a purple set, they each do two dances to music from Prince.
4) “NCIS,” 8 p.m., CBS. Sean Murray was just 25 when he started playing McGee; 23 years later, this is one of the longest-running characters in the history of primetime TV. McGee has been writing crime novels; now he’s kidnapped and imagines his fictional characters telling him what to do.
5) “A Biltmore Christmas” (2023), 8-10 p.m., Hallmark. Lately, Hallmark has tried new settings and approaches. This one uses the Biltmore mansion, a 195,000-square-foot Gilded Age monolith in North Carolina. A screenwriter plans a remake of a 1947 film — then is transported in time to the original.
