After a long pause — and a lot of “Survivor” events — CBS will get busy in late February.
It will debut two dramas (one a “Yellowstone” spin-off) plus a cooking competition. It will also move “Watson” back to Sundays, so it can double up on Dick Wolf dramas on Mondays.
Earlier, CBS will launch a true-crime hour (“Harlan Coben’s Final Twist”) at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7. It will have some specials — Golden Globes on Jan. 11 (with special awards for Helen Mirren and Sarah Jessica Parker on Jan. 8) and Grammys on Feb. 1 (with preview Jan. 30).
Then comes its “Survivor” build-up: Over a 12-day stretch, Feb. 9-20, CBS will rerun key episodes of the show, some an hour, others 90 minutes or two hours. Each will feature one of the contestants in the 50th “Survivor.”
That sets up the new line-up, with:
— “CIA,” starring Tom Ellis and Nick Gehlfus, .at 10 p.m. Mondays, starting Feb. 23. After last season, CBS canceled Wolf’s “FBI: Most Wanted” and “FBI: International,” keeping only his “FBI.” That stays at 9 p.m. Mondays, creating a double-Wolf night.
— “Survivor” at 8 p.m. Wednesdays, starting Feb. 25. The opener will run three hours; the next week, “America’s Culinary Cup” (hosted by Padma Lakshmi) will be at 9:30, with “Hollywood Squares” at 10:30.
— “Y: Marshals,” with producer Taylor Sheridan creating a spin-off from his “Yellowstone.” This one stars Luke Grimes as Kayce, the self-reliant son of the late Gov. John Dutton. It arrives at 8 p.m. March 1, leading into “Tracker” at 9 and “Watson” at 10.
— Other nights will be unchanged. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays will return to new episodes on Feb. 24, 26 and 27. Saturdays remain the land of reruns or sports.
