1) “The Great Escaper” (2023), 9 p.m., PBS. Always a neatly understated actor, Michael Caine, now 92, has a role that fits perfectly. It’s a quietly moving (and true) story of a vet, turning 90 as time neared for the 70th anniversary of D-Day. Glenda Jackson, who died at 87 in the year this movie debuted, is excellent as his wife; they’re shown here.
2) “Talamasca” season-finale, 9 p.m., AMC, repeating at 10. Early episodes swirled with enigmas: What happened to Guy’s mother or Helen’s sister or “the book” that Jasper seeks so brutally? We get some answers (amid lots of jolts and gore) and some new questions. It’s a strong hour that leaves us impatient for next season.
3) “Tracker,” 8 p.m., CBS. Someone hired to scrub crime scenes has vanished. Colter finds that her true-crime fascination may have created a problem … with some amateur sleuths making it worse. That’s followed by “The Road,” with the seven remaining singers reaching a Tulsa ballroom.
4) “Band of Brothers,” 11 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., AMC. After working together on the fictional “Saving Private Ryan,” Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks combined to produce this brilliant mini-series, based on a real World War II division. The great cast includes Damian Lewis, Donnie Wahlberg, Michael Cudlitz and (mainly in the first hour) David Schwimmer.
5) MORE: Movies include the animated “Zootopia” (2016), 8:33 p.m. on ABC; Timothee Chalamet’s delightful “Wonka” (2023), 8 p.m., TNT; and a new Harlequin film — Danielle Panabaker in “Second Guessing Fate” — at 7:30 on CW. Also, “Billy the Kid” has its season-finale, at 10 on MGM+.
