1) “A Grammy Celebration of Latin Music,” 8-10 p.m., CBS. The night is stuffed with music from Gloria Estefan, Jon Secada, Angela Aguilar (shown here), Andrea Bocelli, Luis Fonsi, Michael Buble, Robin Thicke, the cast of Broadway’s “Buena Vista Social Club” and more. Also, there are comments by Carlos Santana, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Rita Moreno and others.
2) Animal Control” season-opener, about 8 p.m. ET, Fox. Sometimes overlooked, this is one of TV’s best comedies, mixing character humor with the sort of sight gags you get when animals are loose. Tonight, rival precincts must merge. After this, the show waits until Jan. 15 for its Thursday spot.
3) “Singin’ in the Rain” (1952), 8 p.m. ET, Turner Classic Movies. Here’s a musical marvel, No. 5 on the American Film Institute’s all-time list. It has a fairly good story, buoyant music and spectacular dancing from Donald O’Connor and Gene Kelly. It’s surrounded by different kinds of musicals — “Muppets Take Manhattan” at 6, Elvis’ “Blue Hawaii” at 10.
4) “One Battle After Another” (2025), 8 p.m., HBO. This epic has drawn raves from critics and best-picture nominations from Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards and more. It’s on a big movie night, with Steve Spielberg’s “Saving Private Ryan” (7 p.m., Showtime), Disney’s “Elemental” (9:02, ABC) and Rob Reiner’s “A Few Good Men” (10, BBC America).
5) ALSO: At 8 and 8:30 p.m., PBS wraps up “Happiness,” which manages to blend humor, drama and some good music into the story of a struggling theater production in New Zealand. And at 8:31, “The Simpsons” has Homer working as a stuntman.
