1) “American Masters,” 8-10 p.m., PBS. Now that Dick Van Dyke (shown here) has turned 100, we can savor a rerun of this fun profile. We see his start, using his elastic face and body for a goofy lip-sync act. He had a string of failures on CBS, until Carl Reiner created the delightful “Dick Van Dyke Show.” Then came “Mary Poppins,” some OK comedies and even a few dramas.
2) “Will Trent,” 8 p.m., ABC. Next Tuesday, this finally opens its fourth season. To get us in the mood, ABC has one rerun today and three each on Sunday and Monday. Tonight, Will works a tough child-trafficking case.
3) “High Potential,” 9 and 10 p.m., ABC. Next Tuesday also brings the return of this show, plus the season-opener of “The Rookie.” Tonight, “High Potential” reruns its Halloween-time episode, with lawyer dying in a spooky, Victorian-style mansion. That’s followed by Morgan probing an art heist; it has a cliffhanger to set up next week’s return.
4) “The Princess Bride” (1987), 8 p.m., BBC America. Others had avoided adapting this book, because it careened through so many genres — adventure, fairy tale, whimsy, more. But Rob Reiner tackled it and created a gem, with a quirky cast that ranged from Billy Crystal and Mandy Patinkin to Andre the Giant and relative newcomers Cary Elwes and Robin Wright.
5) “Murder in a Small Town,” 8 p.m., Fox. This show’s excellent season was marred by one overwritten character, the mayor. Now, however, she’s a victim and the story takes some strong turns. It’s a good hour, leading into a tense “Doc” rerun, with domestic-abuse suspected.
